After you pay your deposit, the process is as follows:
- We will be delivering this fine, pasture-raised steer to the packing company on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2025.
- A steer of this size will typically weigh around 1,000 pounds after initial processing.
- Upon receiving the weight from the processor, we'll inform you of the totals.
- For a 1/2 beef, you'll be charged 1/2 the weight at the rate of $8.50 per pound. For example, if the initial processing weight is 1,000 pounds, you'll be charged as follows: 500 x $8.50 = $4,250.00 - $750.00 (Deposit)=$3,500.00 Total.
- The processor will dry-age the steer at a temperature near freezing for 17-21 days.
- If there are specific cuts you know you'd like from the processor, call the processor during the 17 days following receiving the totals to customize your end product. Otherwise, the processor will do a standard cut.
- When your beef is ready, you may pick it up from the packer directly or at Pinehurst Farm.
